Metris integrates SpecMetrix coating thickness measurement technology within iSpace system for inspection of aerospace coatings
November 20th, 2008 – Fort Worth, Texas – Global metrology leader Metris (MTRS, Euronext Brussels) and Sensory Analytics, an emerging U.S. leader in non-contact coating measurement solutions, today announced that it will incorporate award-winning SpecMetrix® coating measurement technologies from Sensory into its highly successful iSpace tracking and positioning system.
The iSpace system from Metris is a large scale metrology solution that helps transform large fabrication facilities into accurate metrology enabled areas. The addition of the SpecMetrix technology into the innovative iSpace handheld measurement probes will now enable aerospace and defense industry manufacturers to more quickly and precisely measure a variety of specialty coatings in real time, without the use of templates or time-consuming manual test and measurement methods.
SpecMetrix technology for thickness measurement of transparent and opaque coatings is integrated into the positional measurement probes of the Metris iSpace metrology system. As such a combined measurement of the position and the coating thickness are recorded in real-time, which is crucial information for the coating inspection process. The SpecMetrix sensors are integrated into iProbe and iMCA measuring devices that operate within the large iSpace-enabled inspection volume.
