Leuven, September 11th 2008 – The winner of the “2008 Leeuw van de Export” award from Flanders Investment & Trade agency is ... Metris. Belgian company Metris (Euronext – MTRS) – a worldwide metrology leader – was awarded for its impressive international business performance over the past year. Metris CEO Bart van Coppenolle received the trophy from Flanders Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade.
Flanders Investment & Trade promotes sustainable international business, in the interest of both Flanders-based companies and overseas enterprises. Metris was awarded for its steep growth path and strong export performance. “More than 98% of Metris business is international business,” stated Bart van Coppenolle. “In the last 5 years, Metris increased turnover 15-fold and raised profit even more aggressively. To achieve this, we focus on new emerging metrology technologies that we package as total solutions and bring to market on a worldwide scale.”
Metris fuels its steep growth through product innovation and strategic business acquisition. “Business and technology acquisitions enable Metris to develop and commercialize revolutionary metrology solutions that help customers increase product quality, compress time to market, reduce scrap and logistics, and save on resources,” clarified Bart van Coppenolle. “As a result, Metris’ employee count increased from 40 in 2003 to more than 700 in 2008. Currently, Metris has a worldwide network of development, production, sales and services located in Belgium and elsewhere in Europe as well as in Asia and America.”
